Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that India will become an exporter of forged wheels for railways after being an importer for 60-70 years. A manufacturing plant with an initial investment of Rs 650 crore is under construction in Tamil Nadu, set to produce 2.5 lakh wheels per year, with 80,000 for domestic use and the remaining 1.7 lakh for export. Additionally, Integral Coach Factory in Chennai will develop standard gauge Vande Bharat trains for potential export purposes, aiming to boost its export potential.
