UK's Welsh Water ordered to pay £40m in compensation for misleading customers on leakage and water consumption data.

UK's Welsh Water has been ordered to pay £40m in compensation to customers following an investigation by water regulator Ofwat, which found the company misled customers and regulators about its leakage and water consumption data for five years. The company must pay £39.4m in customer redress, with £15m already announced and another £9.4m to follow, which will lower customer bills. Welsh Water will also absorb an extra £15m in costs and invest an additional £59m to address its poor performance on leakage and per capita consumption.
