India's Tata Motors has signed an MoU with the Tamil Nadu government to invest Rs 9,000 crore ($1.15 billion) in a vehicle manufacturing facility in the state. The plant, expected to create 5,000 jobs, will be the first manufacturing facility for Tata Motors in Tamil Nadu. The announcement follows recent investments by automotive companies in the state, including a $2 billion electric vehicle plant by Vietnamese firm VinFast.
