Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has established a seven-member committee to reduce federal government expenses, focusing on pension and development expenditures. The committee, with a one-week deadline, will not include the defence budget and interest payments, which account for two-thirds of the federal budget. The International Monetary Fund lists the wage and pension bill as an outstanding issue for its March 14-18 review talks.
