Kenyan doctors nationwide strike due to government disagreement on mandatory medical internships postings.

Kenyan doctors began a nationwide strike due to a lack of consensus with the government on healthcare worker issues, focusing on mandatory medical internship postings for over 4,000 medical graduates. The strike, announced by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Union (KMPDU), led to public hospital services shutting down, affecting emergency rooms, dialysis units, oncology units, obstetric and neonatal departments, and other sections. The government stated that deploying the current batch of medics would require Sh4.9 billion, which it could not afford.
