2010-2016 Ireland Department of Social Protection civil servants leaked private data as common practice.

A court has heard that leaking of private data was "custom and practice" for some civil servants in Ireland's Department of Social Protection between 2010 and 2016. Former civil servant Susan Lillis, who was sacked for disclosing personal information to a private investigator, revealed that checks were made on celebrities, a major lotto winner, and a missing person. A manager in the Artane branch of AIB reportedly used to call the Kilbarrack office to check customer PPS numbers.
