The Gila River Indian Community in Arizona has announced it does not support a three-state proposal for managing the Colorado River's shrinking water supply. Governor Stephen Roe Lewis said that the community, which is working with the federal government to develop its own proposal for water sharing, cannot back the current Lower Colorado River approach. The opposing plans represent stark ideological differences between the involved states.
