The University of South Carolina's Office for the Study of Aging (OSA) reports an eight-fold increase in Alzheimer's disease in SC over 30 years, with 123,000 residents affected in 2021. Predicted to rise 16% annually over the next 15 years, SC ranks 7th in the US for increase in Alzheimer's prevalence for those over 65 by 2025. Women represent 61% of patients, and African-Americans are 34% more likely to receive an Alzheimer's or dementia diagnosis compared to whites.
