Empire Company Ltd., the parent company of Sobeys, Safeway, and FreshCo grocery chains, reports an 8.5% increase in Q3 net earnings to $134.2M, due to growth in discount and full-service businesses. This comes despite a decline in adjusted profits and lower fuel sales, following the sale of all Western Canada retail fuel sites. Sales reached $7.49B, up from $7.48B the previous year.
