In Elliott County, Kentucky, a firefighter died in a single-vehicle crash while driving a fire truck to escort an EMT to a funeral home. The firefighter, who was a volunteer with the Route 504 Volunteer Fire Department, lost control of the vehicle, struck a guardrail, and went over an embankment into the edge of a river. The community is mourning the loss of the dedicated public servant.
