In Dudley, school suspensions and exclusions have significantly increased, with 37 permanent exclusions in the first term of 2023 compared to 23 the previous year. The exclusion rates are above the national average, and the number of children being home-educated has also increased since the pandemic. Dudley Council plans to implement alternative provision strategies and targeted interventions to address the issue.
