500 victims of child sexual abuse by priests or church representatives in France have received financial compensation under a sweeping reparations program, according to the Independent National Authority for Recognition and Reparation. The authority approved compensation claims for 489 victims, with 66% of claimants being men and 34% being women. The average age of the victims is 61.
