Chief Justice Torkornoo directs police prosecutors to refer cases above GH¢500,000 to the Attorney General.
Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo has directed police prosecutors to refer any cases involving more than GH¢500,000 to the Attorney General's office. This order comes in response to a letter from Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame, which highlighted that police prosecutors are limited to prosecuting cases with a value of under GH¢500,000. Dame also mentioned that cases exceeding this monetary limit should be forwarded to the Office of the Attorney General for further examination and advice.
