British Columbia's government is providing $70m to assist fruit and grape growers in replanting and strengthening their orchards and vineyards after two consecutive years of weather-related disasters. The funding will expand the existing $15m Perennial Crop Renewal Program and help around 1,000 more producers revitalize their farms, following a devastating cold snap in January that reportedly wiped out nearly the entire 2024 wine vintage.
