Australia has no plans to ban TikTok despite growing national security concerns in the US. The US House of Representatives passed a bill that would give Chinese owner ByteDance six months to divest from TikTok and sell to a company not based in China. If ByteDance fails to do this, TikTok would be effectively banned across America. However, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has said there are no plans to emulate the US, acknowledging the potential impact on 8.5 million users and 350,000 businesses in Australia.
