Train manufacturer Alstom proposes a new direct rail service between London and North Wales, offering passengers quicker journeys and "more competitive fares". The Wrexham, Shropshire and Midlands Railway (WSMR) will operate on an open-access basis, potentially running up to five times per day between London Euston and Wrexham. The service will call at Milton Keynes, Nuneaton, Coleshill Parkway, Walsall, Darlaston, Wolverhampton, Telford Central, Shrewsbury, and Gobowen.
