27-year-old convict, Ibrahim Yahaya, was shot dead in Abuja after attempting to escape detention by jumping out of the vehicle transporting him to prison. The Correctional Service personnel pursued him and fired in self-defense. The incident took place after Yahaya had been apprehended by the Abuja Environmental Protection Board, tried, and convicted by a Mobile Court sitting in Wuse Market.
