UK government introduces legislation to exonerate and compensate Post Office sub-postmasters wrongfully convicted between 1996-2018 due to unreliable Horizon IT system.

UK government introduces new legislation to quash wrongful convictions of hundreds of sub-postmasters caught up in the Post Office scandal. The Post Office (Horizon System) Offences Bill will exonerate those convicted between 1996 and 2018 on the basis of unreliable evidence from the company's Horizon IT system, as well as compensate sub-postmasters who were not convicted but suffered due to failures in the system. The legislation aims to clear the names of many people whose lives were ruined by the scandal.
