Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Andrew Furey has called on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to halt the upcoming 25% increase in the carbon tax, due on April 1st, citing inflation and limited renewable energy infrastructure in the province. Furey, a Liberal premier, joins six other premiers in opposing the tax increase. He proposes pausing the hike until the economy stabilizes and residents' incomes catch up with rising living costs.
