New York Governor Kathy Hochul revealed a $45m anti-theft plan to tackle organized retail theft, including $25m for a state police retail theft unit, $15m for district attorneys, and $5m for businesses' security measures. The proposal includes penalties for violence against retail workers equating to those for assaulting first responders, and legislation to target online marketplaces selling stolen goods.
