New York authorities launched a task force to address the issue of missing, fake, or covered license plates, cracking down on vehicles using altered or forged plates to avoid paying tolls and tickets. The multiagency effort resulted in 73 vehicles being impounded, 282 summonses issued, and eight arrests. The state and city task force aims to enforce license plate requirements and combat the growing number of drivers attempting to evade tolls and traffic violations with fake license plates.
