Iraq's Army Aviation Command head visited South Korea to inspect Surion utility helicopter, sparking rumors of potential purchase.
Iraq's Army Aviation Command head, Lt. Gen. Samir Zaki Hussein Al-Maliki, visited South Korea from March 4 to 8 to inspect the Surion utility helicopter, developed by Korea Aerospace Industries Ltd (KAI). The visit sparked rumors of a potential purchase, as Iraq is considering acquiring a new small helicopter. KAI signed a deal in 2013 to supply 24 FA-50 light attack aircraft to Iraq, but has not yet signed any export deals for the Surion.
