Illinois State Capitol in Springfield was placed on lockdown on Tuesday afternoon due to a threat. The lockdown was lifted around 3 p.m. after the Secretary of State Police conducted a sweep of the building and surrounding grounds, finding no credible threat or imminent danger. The lockdown was issued out of an abundance of caution, as the Secretary of State Police received notice of a threat involving the State Capitol Building.
