They allegedly escorted Xiao to a hotel to meet his wife, who they claimed to have been contacted by, before the pair escaped through the room's balcony. CCTV footage from the hotel contradicted their initial account, revealing their involvement in the escape. The officers have pleaded not guilty and were granted bail.
