Five Star Bank accuses Katherine Mott, new owner of Crescent Beach, of fraud, alleging a $19M check-kiting scheme. Mott, who owns local restaurants Monroe's and The Wintergarden, is accused of depositing dozens of insufficient checks into her accounts and transferring money out. The bank discovered the fraudulent activity during routine monitoring and plans to cooperate with law enforcement.
