China has completed the construction of a record-breaking deepwater jacket structure, the Haiji-2 jacket, in Guangdong province. Standing at 338.5 meters, the 37,000-tonne structure will operate at an average depth of 324 meters and is an innovative design using lightweight, ultra-high-strength steel plates. The Haiji-2 is expected to be installed at an oilfield in the Pearl River Mouth Basin sea area, showcasing China's capability to build ultra-large deepwater fixed jackets at depths exceeding 300 meters.
