A Brown Pelican, nicknamed "Blue," found with a slashed pouch in San Pedro is recovering after undergoing surgery. The bird's pouch was severed on both sides and required more than 400 stitches. International Bird Rescue said there is strong evidence the injury was caused by a human. The pelican is expected to fully recover after a month in expert care, with additional surgery needed to repair the pouch.
