Telugu filmmaker Surya Kiran, known for directing films such as Satyam and Dhana 51, passed away in Chennai on 11 March at the age of 48 due to jaundice. Surya Kiran began his career as a child actor in the 1978 Malayalam film Snehikkhan Oru Pennu and later starred in over 200 Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam movies. He made his directorial debut in 2003 with the film Satyam, starring Sumanth Akkineni and Genelia D'Souza. Surya Kiran's last film, Arasi, is set for release.
