30-year-old engineering maths lecturer, Dr Yani Berdeni, overcame stage 4 cancer after a stem cell transplant. He was diagnosed with lymphoma, a type of blood cancer affecting the immune system, in 2019. Following four rounds of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, Dr Berdeni experienced a large cancerous tumor in his spine, leading to a stem cell transplant with a 50% success rate. Two-and-a-half years later, he is running the London Marathon to help others in need.
