2023 marked a record-breaking year for the US solar market, with installations totaling 32.4 gigawatts (GW) and comprising 53% of new capacity, according to a report from Wood Mackenzie and the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA). This surpasses the previous high of 23.6 GW in 2021 and is the largest share of new power installations since WWII. The growth was driven by utility-scale installations in Texas and California.
