Pittsburgh police halt early morning non-emergency call responses due to staffing shortages.

Due to staffing shortages, Pittsburgh police have announced they will no longer respond to non-emergency calls in the early morning hours between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. Instead, lower priority calls will be redirected to a telephone reporting unit. The decision has been taken due to understaffing, with only around 20 officers available for overnight shifts to cover the entire city.
