Bharti Group-backed OneWeb plans to launch commercial satellite communication services in India by June, targeting rural villages with 50-200 Mbps backhaul. The company, which has signed a six-year distribution partner agreement with Hughes Communications India, is seeking prompt allocation of radio waves by applying for spectrum. OneWeb aims to cater to mobility services, defense, off-shore rigs, and remote banks and enterprise branches with its Low Earth orbit (LEO) connectivity services.
