Malaysian Olympic Council president suggests Malaysia host 2026 Commonwealth Games after Victoria, Australia withdraws.
Malaysian Olympic Council president Tan Sri Norza Zakaria suggests the Malaysian government should take up the offer to host the 2026 Commonwealth Games after Victoria, Australia, pulled out due to cost overruns. The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) offered Malaysia a £100 million ($194m) investment to support local delivery and legacy planning for the event. Norza Zakaria believes hosting the event will build on the success of the 1998 Kuala Lumpur Games and put Malaysia back on the world sporting map.
