300ft UK airship prototype Airlander 10 from Hybrid Air Vehicles set for commercial flights in 2028, emitting 75% less pollutants than traditional aircraft.

The UK's Airlander 10, a 300ft long airship by Hybrid Air Vehicles (HAV), is set to revolutionize commercial air travel with its eco-friendly design, emitting up to 75% less pollutants than traditional aircraft. The company has manufactured a prototype, which has completed test flights and is on display in Bedford. Electric and hydrogen-powered versions are planned for the future. Although experts warn that airships may face challenges due to their slow speed compared to other airborne modes, the potential of airships as environmentally friendly, low-cost alternatives to helicopters and passenger jets has sparked renewed interest. Commercial airship flights are expected to begin in 2028.
