California AG supports bill to prevent medical debt affecting credit reports, following Colorado and New York.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta has announced support for legislation that aims to protect patients from medical debt affecting their credit reports. Democratic Senator Monique Limón's bill aims to prevent healthcare providers and collection agencies from sharing medical debt information with credit reporting agencies. If passed, California would become the third state after Colorado and New York to remove medical bills from consumer credit reports.
