In Singapore, a Chinese tourist facing charges for allegedly staging his own kidnapping in an attempt to cheat his aunt out of $5,600 to clear gambling debts. Liu Changjian, 33, was caught by the Singapore Police Force within three hours after his aunt in China received text messages from an unknown person claiming that Liu had been kidnapped and asking for a $5,630 ransom. Liu was charged with one count of attempted cheating.
