Sembcorp Industries' subsidiary GIWEL awarded a 440 MW wind-solar hybrid project by India's SJVN.
Sembcorp Industries' subsidiary Green Infra Wind Energy Ltd (GIWEL) has been awarded a 440 MW wind-solar hybrid power project by India's SJVN, a state-owned power producer. This project is part of SJVN's 1.5 GW bid issued in September 2023. The power generated from the project will be sold to SJVN under a 25-year power purchase agreement. Sembcorp expects the project to be operational within 24 months of signing the agreement, with funding through a mix of internal funds and debt. The project will expand the company's gross renewable capacity to 14.3 GW, including a pending 245 MW acquisition.
