6 people and 2 dogs rescued from sinking boat near Decatur Island by Samish crew and US Coast Guard.
The Washington State Ferry Samish crew and the United States Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound rescued six people and two dogs from a sinking 37-foot cabin cruiser in high winds and waves near Decatur Island. The boaters called for help when their vessel started taking on water, and the Coast Guard launched multiple vessels and a helicopter from Port Angeles. The Samish crew joined the rescue effort, launching their own rescue boat.
