Muslims gathered in New York's Times Square on Sunday to mark the start of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting, with dozens displaying Palestinian flags in solidarity with Gaza. Despite cold, windy conditions, over 100 worshippers performed Taraweeh, special Ramadan night prayers, in the bustling landmark. A vocalist chanted Nasheeds and children recited from the Koran, with copies offered to both Muslims and curious passersby.
