Kansas judge upholds law preventing state from changing transgender residents' driver's license genders.

A Kansas judge has ruled that the state isn't violating transgender residents' rights under the state constitution by refusing to change their driver's licenses to reflect their gender identities. Judge Teresa Watson kept in place an order from July 2023 preventing the Kansas Department of Revenue from changing the "sex" listing on transgender people's driver's licenses. The decision upholds a 2023 law that ended legal recognition of transgender people's identities in the state.
