Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst challenges Sen. Tom Cotton for the Senate Republican Conference chair position, setting up a race for the third-highest GOP leadership role. Ernst, currently the Republican Policy Committee chair, announced her bid after Cotton's announcement last week. Both candidates are vying for the role following leadership shakeups after Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's decision to step down in November.
