India declines to alter policies for Tesla, aims to attract global EV manufacturers with new laws and initiatives.

India's Commerce and Industry Minister, Piyush Goyal, has said that the country will not tailor its policies to suit Tesla, the US electric vehicle maker. Instead, the government aims to formulate laws and tariff rules to attract all-electric vehicle manufacturers globally to invest in India, which is the fastest-growing economy. Tesla has sought tariff concessions to offset customs duties for their vehicles, but the Indian government is working on several initiatives to encourage all-electric vehicle manufacturers to set up shop in India.
