The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is investigating complaints that automatic emergency braking (AEB) systems in 2019-2022 Honda Insight and Passport models can activate without warning and for no apparent reason. This probe is one of several recent investigations by NHTSA into potential issues with AEB systems. In 2022, NHTSA started investigating 750 complaints about Tesla Model 3 and Y braking for no reason. The agency also opened a probe in 2020 into over 1.7 million Hondas for brake issues.
