Halifax-born filmmaker Ben Proudfoot has won his second Oscar, taking the Best Documentary Short category for "The Last Repair Shop". Co-directed with Kris Bowers, the film tells the story of a Los Angeles warehouse that provides free musical instrument repair service for thousands of public school students. Proudfoot's first Oscar win was in 2021 for his short film "The Queen of Basketball".
