Care home and nurse breached Right 4 of the Code for inadequate wound management of a female resident.

Aged Care Commissioner Carolyn Cooper found a care home and a registered nurse breached the Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers' Rights for inadequate wound management of a female resident with complex medical history. The care home's systems were inadequate to support timely care and intervention, leading to a breach of Right 4 of the Code providing appropriate standard of care. Several deficiencies in care were identified, including lack of weekly wound photos.
