Punjab's new excise policy for 2024-25, approved by the state cabinet, aims to generate over Rs 10,000 crore in revenue. The policy includes a drop in imported foreign liquor (IFL) prices and no increase in the rates of country liquor. This is the first time the revenue from liquor sales is estimated to cross the Rs 10,000 crore mark in a fiscal year, up from Rs 6,151 crore during the previous Congress regime.
