A UH-72 Lakota helicopter carrying National Guard members and a Border Patrol agent crashed in southern Texas near the Mexican border on Friday, killing three occupants and critically injuring the fourth. The crash occurred in an open field while the helicopter was patrolling the border and tracking people crossing into the United States illegally. The three fatalities included two soldiers and one Border Patrol agent.
