Texas sues EPA over methane emissions rule, claiming it exceeds state authority.

Texas sued the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) over its final rule to limit methane emissions from the oil and gas industry, citing that it exceeds the state's authority. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed the lawsuit in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. The EPA estimates that the rule, which targets new and existing polluters, could reduce up to 58 million tons of methane emissions by 2038.
