France's Normandie frigate, one of France's most modern warships, participated in large NATO drills in Norway's frigid fjords. These exercises, the biggest since the Cold War, aim to prepare the 32-nation military alliance for potential threats, including trying to catch troops off guard. In a simulation during the drills, the Normandie's crew successfully "destroyed" a German submarine, also a NATO member, that had sneaked into Norwegian waters.
