FHWA approves $1.2bn I-94 expansion in Milwaukee by WisDOT, despite environmental concerns.

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has approved a $1.2bn plan by Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) to expand Interstate 94 (I-94) in Milwaukee to eight lanes, despite concerns from environmental groups. The expansion, which could begin in 2025, has faced criticism over increased greenhouse gas emissions, air and water pollution, and congestion. The Sierra Club remains opposed to the plan and is pushing for a thorough civil rights investigation.
